Do you love building and collaborating but notice that the startup dream rests on faulty assumptions? Are you starting to feel like the tech we're building might supporting systems where you're not welcome? Are you ready to see your own part and be welcomed as your whole self? Join us! Build together. Belong together.
Belonging Builders is a new experiment in emergence. It's a place for people who are building community-driven technologies (or want to!). We are people who tech and modernity have often marginalized and our allies. We're not here for the hustle, we're here for refuge. Let's find each other.
Belonging is a practice. We welcome ourselves together.
Do small projects, community work, or start new companies with people who share your values.
We all have a wealth of experience and expertise to share.
Things can be hard. We believe in one another and witness one another through our challenges.
We use collective decision-making frameworks so we can practice being collaborative leaders.
We have amazing networks to draw from and we share resources, events, and opportunities.
We are product managers, engineers, founders, designers, researchers, and others who work in the tech field. We are facilitators, organizers, and conveners who use technology to cultivate belonging. As a guiding definition, this group includes people who are ‘underrepresented’ in tech, including Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQAI+, women, trans, or non-binary, disabled, and intersections among all those identities. We offer a container for technologists doing this work to come together for rest, fugitivity, and connection. Our space orients around practice, about being and becoming. It's a break from the normal hustle, hiding, and performance of the tech world.
This is a relational space to find support, collaborators, ideas, and connection. Everyone in this group holds the space together. There's no cost to participate.
Research shows belonging is linked to frequent, positive interaction with people you matter to. We're here for each other on the regular.
